MI5 will oversee the National Protective Security Agency (NSPA), which has been tasked with training and advising the UK’s businesses, schools and NGOs on how to defend themselves from online threats and foreign spying.

The FBI and MI5 have been collaborating in identifying the foreign state actors who have been stealing British intellectual property and technological discoveries, specifically the growing threat of Chinese spies.

Security minister Tom Tugendhat said in a statement, “Science, technology, and academia are as much on the front lines of national security as the UK’s critical national infrastructure,”.
