During a US Senate hearing on global threats held on Wednesday, FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted the Bureau had purchased data sets including geolocation info on US citizens, without a warrant.
The US Supreme Court had previously determined in the landmark Carpenter v. United States decision that it was a violation of the 4th amendment to access location data without a warrant.
