The FBI and international partners have temporarily disrupted the network of prolific ransomware gang “HIVE”, after they infiltrated them last year, saving victims a potential $130 million in ransom payments, Attorney General Merrick Garland and other U.S. officials announced last Thursday Jan. 26, 2023, in Washington.
Although they offered decryption keys to some 1,300 victims globally, FBI Director Wray said only about 20% reported potential issues to law enforcement. Victims included hospitals and school districts.
