No longer is catching a virus the worst thing that can happen when plugging in an unknown USB, as five Ecuadorian journalists were sent flash drives in the mail that contained small quantities of T4 explosives, often used as a base charge by many military, including the US, and set to detonate when plugged into their computers USB ports.

One victim suffered mild hand and face injuries. Luckily, the radio producer who went to plug in one of the drives on behalf of another journalist used an adapter cable which reduced the voltage needed to set off the explosive, sparing them.
