State sponsored attacks on European power, telecom and financial systems are still a major concern, despite recent efforts to shore up defenses, according to a report by the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). The EU is expected to stress test their systems and run impact analyses to identify any potential risks.

“The war in Ukraine, the broader geopolitical landscape and the increasing use of cyber attacks have significantly heightened the cyber threat environment,” the ESRB said in a report.

Europe has been on high alert since the alleged sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in September of 2022.
