Prime Voice AI, a tool in beta release created by ElevenLabs, was invented to allow movies and games to be dubbed into different languages while using the same voice. However, as a recently circulated video of US President Biden shows, it can be used to further fool audiences of Deep Fakes, needing only a few minute audio sample of the impersonated voice and the desired text spoken.
After ElevenLabs observed “an increasing number of voice cloning misuse cases,” including fakes of Bill Gates, Hilary Clinton and actress Emma Watson reading Mein Kampf, they tweeted that they intend to “address this by implementing additional safeguards”.
