The Defense Department of Australia has removed all Chinese made surveillance cameras, following their AUKUS partners. Over 900 devices from the likes of Hikvision and Dahua in more than 250 government sites were deemed to be a security risk.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Richard Marles stated that he has asked his department “to engage in a further audit, just to make sure we’ve not missed any, and if there are any, they will be removed.”

Beijing opposed the removal as “abusing state power to discriminate against” Chinese companies, a foreign ministry spokesperson said.
