German authorities said on Monday that they have shutdown and arrested 48 individuals including users, operators and administrators of the encrypted communication app Exclu after investigators found that it was being used for organized crime.
The smartphone app, which cost 800 euros for a six month license, had an estimated 3000 users, with a quarter of them residing in the Netherlands. Over 70 properties across Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland were searched.
